Disclosure

Last updated: October 1, 2026.

This Disclosure explains how Home Network Grid at homenetworkgrid.com is funded, what our reviews, comparisons and roundups are based on, and how commercial relationships would be handled if any were added. It should be read together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Our Approach to Disclosure

Readers should be able to understand, before relying on a recommendation, whether anyone paid for it, gave something of value for it or stands to benefit from it. Our approach is to describe our actual commercial situation plainly, to explain the limits of our research, and to place any future disclosures where readers will see them before they act on a link or recommendation. This page describes our practices as of the date shown above. It is not a claim that the site complies with every law, guideline or platform rule that might apply in every jurisdiction, and it does not replace your own judgment. The Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements informs how we think about disclosure, especially the principle that material connections should be disclosed clearly and close to the claims they affect. At present, Home Network Grid has no affiliate programs, advertising, sponsorships, paid placements, free products or other material relationships, so most of this page explains what is absent and how that would change.

Affiliate Relationships

Home Network Grid does not currently participate in any affiliate program. That means we do not earn a commission, referral fee or other payment when you click a link on the site or buy a product, plan or service we mention. Links to manufacturers, retailers, internet providers, standards bodies and other sources are included because they are useful to readers, for example to show a specification, a manual, a firmware release note or a provider’s equipment requirements, and not because anyone pays us for them. If affiliate relationships are added later, this page and the affected pages will be updated to identify the type of relationship and to place a clear disclosure near the affiliate links or recommendations.

Advertising

Home Network Grid does not display advertising and does not use any ad network. There are no banner ads, sponsored content units, native advertising widgets, pop-ups, retargeting tags or advertising measurement scripts on the site. No advertiser influences which products we cover, what we say about them or how we rank them. If advertising is added in the future, ads are intended to be labeled so they can be distinguished from editorial content, and this page and our Privacy Policy would be updated to describe the advertising and any associated data practices.

Sponsorships and Paid Placements

Home Network Grid has no sponsorships, paid placements, sponsored posts or paid reviews. No internet provider, equipment manufacturer, retailer, software vendor or other company pays to appear on the site, to be included in a roundup, to receive a particular rating or ranking, or to have critical information softened or removed. If sponsored content is ever published, it is intended to be labeled clearly at the top of the content and near any relevant links, with the sponsor identified, and this page would be updated.

Compensation, Free Products and Other Material Relationships

Home Network Grid has not received free products, review units, loaner equipment, discounts, gifts, payments or other compensation from companies it covers. There are no sponsorships, paid placements or other material relationships in place with any internet provider, equipment manufacturer, retailer or software vendor discussed on the site. The site’s editorial persona, Jonah Reyes, is fictional and has no employment, ISP or vendor ties. If a material connection arises in the future, such as receiving a product at no cost or entering a business relationship with a company we write about, it is intended to be disclosed on the affected pages and on this page.

Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest

Our coverage decisions are based on what readers need to know to set up, troubleshoot, secure and improve their home networks. We choose products and topics based on reader relevance, the questions people ask, availability to US households and the quality of the public evidence, not on payments or commercial considerations. Reader suggestions can shape what we research, but a suggestion does not guarantee that we will write about something or reach any particular conclusion. We aim to describe trade-offs honestly, including when the better answer is to keep equipment you already have, to buy nothing, or to stop renting provider equipment you don’t need. Because the site has no commercial relationships today, we are not aware of any financial conflict of interest affecting our coverage. If a potential conflict arises, it is intended to be disclosed near the affected content, or the subject would be handled in a way that avoids the conflict. Mentioning a brand or product does not imply that the company endorses Home Network Grid or that we have any relationship with it, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

No Guaranteed Results

Nothing on Home Network Grid guarantees any particular result. We do not guarantee that a router, mesh system, modem, access point, switch, cable or setting will improve your speeds, range, latency, reliability or security. We do not guarantee that buying your own equipment instead of renting it from your internet provider will save you money, because savings depend on your provider’s fees, the equipment you choose, how long you keep it and whether your provider supports it. We do not guarantee that a guide will fix a connection problem, that a configuration will keep your network secure, or that a home lab project will work on your hardware. Real-world performance depends on your internet plan, your provider’s network, your home’s construction and layout, interference, device capabilities, firmware and many other factors we cannot see. Advertised speeds and specifications are usually best-case figures from manufacturers or providers, not predictions of what you will experience.

How Our Reviews and Comparisons Are Researched

Our reviews, comparisons and roundups are research-based. They draw on manufacturer specifications and manuals, firmware and release notes, published standards, internet provider equipment requirements, recall and security advisories, and patterns in owner reports. They are not lab tests, hands-on testing or measurements, and we do not present them as such. We do not run speed tests, range tests, throughput benchmarks or security audits on the products we cover, and nothing on the site should be read as a claim that we did. When we compare options, we explain the reasons and trade-offs so you can judge whether they apply to your home. Research-based reviews have real limits. Specifications may describe ideal conditions, documentation may be incomplete or outdated, firmware can change a product’s behavior after we write about it, and owner reports are anecdotal, may not be representative and can reflect individual setups or mistakes. A product’s actual behavior in your home may differ from what the available evidence suggests. The site’s editorial voice is Jonah Reyes, a fictional editorial persona with a generated portrait, as disclosed on our About page. The persona holds no credentials and has no employment, ISP or vendor ties, and nothing about the persona is evidence that a product was tested or used. Images on the site are AI-generated illustrations, not photographs of products or installations that anyone handled. Home Network Grid does not publish testimonials. If reader or customer statements are ever quoted, only genuine statements from real people are intended to be used, any material connection would be identified, and individual experiences would not be presented as typical results.

Product Specifications, Prices and Sellers

Product specifications, features, compatibility, prices, plan terms, availability, warranty coverage and return policies are set by manufacturers, retailers and internet providers, and they change frequently. Information on Home Network Grid reflects research at the time a page was written or last updated, and it may not reflect current conditions. Before you buy, confirm details directly with the manufacturer, seller or provider, including whether a device is on your provider’s approved or compatible equipment list. Warranties, support, recalls and returns are the responsibility of the manufacturer or seller, not Home Network Grid. We do not sell products, take orders, process payments or provide customer support for any product or service. Any purchase or service agreement is between you and the seller or provider, as described in our Terms of Use.

Informational Purpose and Professional Advice

Content on Home Network Grid is general information about home networking. It is not professional IT, network security, electrical, construction, legal or financial advice, and it does not take your specific equipment, building, provider contract or risk tolerance into account. Home networking projects can involve security exposure, data loss, service outages, voided warranties, provider terms issues, equipment damage, electrical and fire hazards, falls and building-code issues. Only change networks and equipment that you own or are authorized to administer, and never access or test networks that you are not authorized to administer. Follow manufacturer instructions and local codes, use cable rated for in-wall, riser or plenum spaces where required, and hire a licensed electrician for any work involving mains power or electrical panels. For more detail about these risks and your responsibilities, see the professional advice, safety and liability sections of our Terms of Use.

Accuracy, Updates and Corrections

We work to make our content accurate, clear and current, but we cannot guarantee that every page reflects the latest firmware, standard, provider policy, price or advisory. We may update, correct or remove content when we learn that it is wrong, incomplete or outdated, or when better sources become available. When a correction materially changes a recommendation or a safety-related instruction, we aim to make the change clear on the affected page. If you believe something on a page is wrong, out of date or unclear, the most useful report includes the page link, what you believe is correct and, ideally, a source such as a manual, release note or provider page. Corrections are checked against sources before a page is changed. Email receiving for our public address has not yet been set up and verified, as explained below, so we cannot currently confirm that correction reports will be received.

Where Disclosures Will Appear

Because Home Network Grid currently has no affiliate links, advertising, sponsorships or other material relationships, there are no commercial disclosures to display on individual pages today. If a material connection is added in the future, a clear disclosure is intended to appear on each affected page, near the recommendation or link it relates to, and before readers are likely to act on it. A disclosure that affects a specific recommendation would not be left only to this page, a footer link or a hidden notice. Disclosures would use plain language that describes the actual relationship, such as whether we earn a commission or received a product at no cost.

Questions and Updates to This Disclosure

This page will be updated when our funding, commercial relationships or research methods change, and the “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was most recently revised. The site does not operate a mailing list, so changes are made by updating this page rather than by sending individual notices. Questions about this Disclosure can be sent to hello@homenetworkgrid.com. Email receiving for that address has not yet been set up and verified, so we cannot currently confirm that messages will be received or answered, and we do not offer response times. The contact form on our Contact page is turned off at launch, and that page shows the email address only.
