I'm Jonah, and for as long as I can remember I've been the person people hand the router to when something stops working. It started at my grandmother's house, where the Wi-Fi only reached the kitchen if nobody ran the microwave. I was the kid sitting on the floor with the manual, trying to work out why the blinking lights meant what they meant.

That curiosity never really went away. When working from home became normal, I watched friends and neighbors fight the same battles: video calls dropping in the back bedroom, a gateway rented for years that they didn't need, a game console stuck behind a strict NAT and nobody able to say why. Most of them didn't want to become network engineers. They wanted someone to explain the problem in plain English and tell them which fix was worth trying first.

I like that translation work more than almost anything. I'm happiest with a mug of coffee, a firmware changelog and a sheet of graph paper where I sketch out how a household's network actually fits together. I read standards documents and ISP equipment lists the way some people read mystery novels, mostly because the plot twist is usually hiding in a footnote. I also keep a running notebook of admin-page quirks, default settings that cause trouble, and questions readers ask more than once.

Away from screens, I bake bread that is more enthusiastic than it is beautiful, ride my bike on long and slow weekend loops, and label things around the house a little more than my friends think is necessary. That last habit explains a lot about why tidy cable runs and well-named VLANs make me happy.

At Home Network Grid, I'm the voice that introduces the site and helps you find your way around. My promise is simple: I'll tell you what the evidence says, admit where it runs out, and always point you toward the safest way to get where you're going.
